Create a REV block

REV blocks are simple drawing files that are xrefed into revised sheet files. (See How to Section on making a revision to a drawing set.)

REV blocks include a revision tag and a small piece of mtext. See Image.

Follow the steps below to create a REV1 block for a project.
  1. Open any sheet drawing of a project.
  2. Find the revision grid on the titleblock, zoom in to that grid.
  3. Insert a revision tag using the revision tool on the toolbar.
  4. Place the revision tag in the grid. You might have to scale the revision tag down to fit it in the grid space.
  5. Insert text into the date and description feilds. Justify the text to fit. You can now sketch it using the grips until it fits into the grid space. See image.
  6. When you have this the way you like it. Use the wblock command to make it a separate drawing file. Name the file REV1.dwg and save it with the other drawing files.
  7. The last step is to xref that same REV1.dwg back into any revised sheets. It will load right into the correct grid space. You can open the REV1.dwg and make changes to the date or description, and it will update on all revised sheets.
